Well it seems like the mayor of Randolph Iowa finally gave in to the public pressure with regards to his 5$ bounty on the local feral cat population. As we indicated earlier, the best way to deal with a feral cat population is to trap, neuter and release them. I'm assuming that the mayor of Randolph got the message finally.

Even though the guy finally dropped the bounty, I truly wonder where this guy's head is at. The very thought of offering money to kill cats is pretty ridiculous. At least he did the right thing in the end.

If you live in Randolph Iowa, you might want to consider keeping your cat nearby or on a cat leash. In what would appear to be a plan that is devoid of intelligence or reason, an Iowa mayor has decided the best way to deal with feral cats in the neighborhood is to offer $5 to any person that can bring a cat in to the local vet. Once there, (if unclaimed) the cat will be put down.

According to a news report on KPTM's website, local residents have been complaining about the issue for some time now. "There's been a cat problem in this town for 11 years," says one local Randolph resident.

What some of the residents and the mayor don't seem to understand in Randolph is that the best way to deal with feral cats is to trap, neuter and release them back to the wild. If they had implemented that plan years ago, they wouldn't be in the situation they are in now. Towns like Knoxville Tennesse are shining models of how you deal with feral cats.

The problem with paying people to return cats to the town is that you're not dealing with the real problem at the root and finally, someone is bound to lose an actual home pet due to mistaken identity.
