What is right for the cat?
The latest trend is feeding your cat an all-vegan or vegetarian diet. Not sure about this one. Cats are predators, naturally born killers - ok, so it's hard to imagine neo as a predator - but he could hunt...if he had to...his mom gave him hunting lessons...I'm sure he remembers!
But here’s my problem…Cats are carnivores… but I just heard about someone who feeds their cat a tomato stew with garbanzo beans – Tomatoes?
Brushing your cat’s teeth extends their lives, but finding a way to do it can be a challenge.
The most important thing is to keep it fun, for you and for your cat. Get some yummy toothpaste – no not the minty kind, you need special kitty toothpaste in poultry or beef flavor – and have lots of tooth friendly treats available (your vet has them, these treats taste good and help keep your cat’s teeth clean) and a cat toothbrush.
Ok, you’re all set. You just need a cat.
Too many treats and too much sleep everyday can lead to Feline Diabetes!
People and cats are turning into couch potatoes together. A study out of the UK finds that cats are getting too fat and lazy because their humans feed them too much and don’t let them get enough exercise. Then they get sick and you have to take them to the vet regularly, buy medications and new food… it all adds up.
But after a long day working…
Declawing is actually amputating the tips of your cat’s fingers and toes. If that isn’t bad enough, did you know that cats walk on their toes? So if you remove the tips of the toes, walking becomes painful for them.
…And another thing, declawed cats are docile and often become lazy and develop behavioral problems?
Of course! Think about it, you wouldn’t be excited to play with someone who ripped off the ends of your fingers and toes now would you? SO why would you expect your cat to be playful and behave like a normal cat after that torture?
So if you think declawing is the only alternative, think again… Get your cat a scratching post…Your cat won’t use it?….Bring in a broken branch from outside!… yeah, you know I’m right, brace it against something and let them go at it! They’ll love that!

Hi, I’m Melanie and my cat’s name is Neo (yes, I am a huge fan of the Matrix trilogy – but that’s a topic for another day!) I love cats, all cats, and cats seem to love me too!
Lately, I’ve been disappointed with the lack of information available to cat lovers of the world. That’s why I decided to start FaceKitty.
